Is it me or does it feel like we’re in the twilight zone?!?!  It seems like we somehow slipped into an alternate universe where people work remotely, travel less and are threatened by a mere cough or sneeze!  Hugs, handshakes and festivals seem like a thing of the past.

I know for most it seems like life has been put on pause, but I’m here to tell you that doesn’t have to be the case.  As a matter of fact, it should be just the opposite.  During this season of resetting, it’s the perfect time to press the gas on pursuing your dreams, goals and ambitions.

For most, life has slowed down at least a little if not completely.  Rather than waiting on things to get back to normal (which honestly may never happen), now is the time to capitalize on any time gained from either no longer commuting or not being able to go out as much on the weekend and CREATE!!!

What does it mean to create??  It means writing that book that’s been on the back burner, or working on that business plan that you’ve had in mind, or earning that degree that you’ve been thinking about.  Creating means intentionally taking the time to go after whatever is in your heart to do.

While others are stuck like deer in headlights, now is the time to get a head start and begin reinventing yourself.  Let’s face it…The world is changing right before our eyes and it’s important to not be complacent.  We must seek to learn, grow and develop like never before.  Here are some tips on how to prime the pump of creativity during this season of uncertainty.

  1. Take a Class

In this day and age of technology, classes come in many forms and sizes.  In most cases, you don’t even have to pay for them.  Over the years, I’ve really become a fan of sites like Coursera, SkillShare or even the school of YouTube!  The point is, there’s plenty of ways to educate yourself on just about anything.  Take some time to discover an area of interest or just learn about something new!

  1. Listen to a Podcast

Even though I have a podcast (shout out to Becoming Eva!), I’m still pretty new to the podcast game.  I’m just now realizing there literally is a podcast for anyone about anything!  As a matter of fact, it might be time for you to CREATE a podcast!  Either way, I encourage you to check one out or try a new one.  As a entrepreneur, I’m a big fan of “How I Built This” and “The School of Greatness,” “Business with Bordeaux” and “Secrets of Wealthy Women.”  These are just a few cause like I said, I’m still new to game when it comes to podcasts, but I encourage you to explore the world of podcasts.  You never know what you may stumble upon!

  1. Read a Book

I was a big time bookworm growing up, but as of late the books have definitely become more fewer and farther between.  I read articles often, but I have to be a lot more intentional about reading books.  With a little more time on your hands or not having to sit in traffic for a commute, I encourage you to pick up a book.  Some enjoy novels.  Others may appreciate a nice biography or personal development book.  Fiction or nonfiction, a good book will definitely get your creative juices flowing.  Try it!

  1. Start Journaling

I can honestly say I have a different journal for just about every stage of my adult life.  I started consistently journaling in college and have not stopped.  I may journal more during some seasons than others, but journaling continues to be an incredible outlet for me.  It’s a great way to think through your goals and ideas.  It’s also very cathartic and I think we could all benefit from an emotional release these days.

  1. Join or Start a Group

Although social distancing is the new norm, we can still be in community with one another (#AloneTogether).  In some cases, people have not only been virtually connecting with their co-workers and family members, but also reconnecting with old friends and distant relatives.  Why not make some new friends in the process?  Now is a great time to join or start a group be it a book club, an online class, support group, etc.  I challenge you to partner with people of like mind to encourage you and help hold you accountable as you pursue your dream and goals.
